Greg Wall lives in Kerrville Texas. He was born in Texas and his musical roots are embedded there. Musically Greg started out as a trumpet player in the third grade. He played through school and became a top jazz player around the Dallas Fort Worth area. The guitar didn't come into play until college. While working on a music degree and studying jazz trumpet Greg studied classical guitar as a second instrument. This quickly turned into a passion with influences from Leo Kottke, CSNY, Michael Hedges, Phil Keaggy and other great guitar and harmony artist.
As a top acoustic player in the Texas Hill Country now, you can see the classical influences in his finger style. Greg played with Tangent, a three piece acoustic group through the 80's and early 90's. After that he spent most of his time in Austin and San Antonio playing the scene and working on his "In the Back Room" CD. This is a 20 year copulation of signature guitar works created from life lessons and love of his instrument.
Greg moved to Kerrville in 1999 and it has been a Texas Hill Country explosion to this date. Greg performs all around the hill country. Greg plays with Emily Lively, an upcoming singer songwriter, Chris Adams, Bassist for The Seth James Band, Levi Darr and other artist through-out the hill country. Greg has been performing as the guest artist at Luckenbach along with stints in Nashville. Today's influences are definitely Texas artist such as Walt Wilkins, John Greenburg, Tommy Alverson, Shake Russell, The Dust Devils, David Rodriguez, Joe Ely and many more great Texas musicians. He also writes for several music magazines and has been caught frequenting the local radio stations playing or just being a loose cannon. The love for the music community is present in Greg's approach to the music scene. He always supports open mics, benefits, and opportunities to engage in such activities as The Kerrville Folk Festival and The Texas Heritage Music Foundation functions.
Greg's equipment looks like a musician's paradise! He plays a 1970 D-25 Guild, a 2003 J-32 handmade Lowden, a 1973 Takamine 12 string J series, a 2001 special J series Larrivee 12 string, a 2005 Tacoma Baritone and a 2010 McPherson MG-5.0XP 6 string. The 6 strings are all set up with dual pickups for a stereo signal. The 12 strings are equipped with a Baggs I-Beam and Baggs Element pickups.

The guitars are shipped through a Pendulum acoustic stereo preamp, BBE stereo 482i maximizer, a Zoom RFX 2000 stereo effects processor, and finally into a Rane DC 22 stereo limiter compressor. This unique sound is presented through two Bose Cylindrical Radiator Pole systems. This setup gives Greg the ultimate sound respected buy all musicians. On a smaller note Greg will play straight through a Baggs Para Acoustic DI into the Bose or a Mackie system. On occasions he will play through a Genz Benz stereo amp only. When visiting his studio you will see all kinds of boards, amps, pedals and just a plethora of musical toys. Recording is done with the use of Nuendo and Ozone Mastering software. Greg's music touches thousands of people throughout south and central Texas. Weekly Greg sponsors a picking party, complete with gourmet dogs, for many hill country musicians. This picking party is in its 5th year and just keeps growing with musicians from Austin to Luckenbach, Fredericksburg, and all over south and central Texas. His plans this next year are to clear out about 3 acres of land and build a stage geared at house concerts and performances from local musicians. Greg is always there for any musician who would like to talk about the business, equipment, gigs, or just sitting around a big fire pit and pickin some songs.
